Ambition

Founded in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 1952, Bafarat is a family-run business which started importing herbs, spices, coffee and tea from around the world.

Founded by the late Omar Ahmed Bafarat, Omar was an enthusiastic visionary - he took the business forward by connecting with the right people, importing the best herbs, spices and coffee from around the world. He managed to set up new standards and with it he gained respect in the business community. With this great achievement, the brand created new expectations.

To extend their passion and knowledge for coffee around the world, Bafarat launched cafes in London and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Merging Middle Eastern coffee culture and French-inspired patisserie under one roof, they are passionate about creating unforgettable and uplifting experiences that their guests will love to share with others.

The uncompromising quality of their pastries, savouries and drinks, their unique interiors and their focus on making a genuine, personal connection with customers has enabled them to exceed the high expectations of customers.

The challenge

Bafarat is a 50 year old, multi-generational family business in Saudi Arabia - they have a successful retail estate but were looking to enter the cafe market in both Jeddah & London.

In order to do this successfully, we looked to effectively leverage the brand's strong visual identity across social media, creating consistent, engaging content that inspires customers to be part of the brand. We designed and built a mobile-first website in both English and Arabic and managed their social media channels in both languages, working with a series of influencers around key product launches to reach new people.

Action

Starting from a very basic list of website pages required and a couple of reference points we worked closely with our client and development team to put together a site plan that would balance the image of the brand with the practicality of needing to generate booking enquiries.

We wanted to create a simple design where the stunning photography of the brand could really shine through and we could easily differentiate the two cafe locations in London and Jeddah. The heart of website is the location "mini-sites" where users can easily navigate their way through each location; find out about what makes it unique, where they are, when they are open, the individual menus and of course to make a booking.

Result

A brand new, mobile-first website showcasing the Bafarat cafe brand which makes it extremely easy for new visitors to learn about their cafe offering and make a booking enquiry.

The results of the website were quickly visible to see. The client experienced a sustained increase in cafe bookings, particularly for their London Ultimate Afternoon Tea offering, and although they also use OpenTable for bookings, they were soon receiving over 95% of their bookings direct from the new website.

Due to the success of the site, we are now working on a new automated process to improve the booking functionality.
